Obituary of Shirley White

Shirley White, 84 of Blountstown, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her home. Shirley was born in Grand Ridge to the late Willie and Effie Pitts and had moved to Blountstown in 1957. She had worked for Hartford Farms for many years before opening a day care that she enjoyed very much. She was a member of Altha Church of God. Other than her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Charles White; her brothers, Tommy Pitts and William Pitts; her sisters Rebecca Owens, Geneva Pitts, Dorothy Basford and Mary Ann Pitts. Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Pennington and her husband Jimmy of Blountstown; her brother, Marion Pitts and his wife Bonnie of Altha; her sisters Jenell LeMaster of Crossville, Alabama and Carolyn Gomillion of Blountstown; her grandson, Jimmy Lee Pennington of Tampa; great grandchildren, Austin Pennington and Charleigh Grace Pennington of Lakeland and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Services to honor and to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Altha Church of God with Reverend Allan Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery near Grand Ridge. A time of visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Altha Church of God.
