Survivors include her daughter Judy Barber of Bristol; her daughter and son-in-law Janice and David Watson of Quincy; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law Jenny and Brandon Liabenow of Tucson, AZ; her great-grandson Michael Liabenow; and her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Shirley Segers of Bristol. Elnita was born on January 29, 1929, in Scotts Ferry, FL. She grew up in Calhoun County and graduated from Blountstown High School in 1945. She worked for the FL Legislature in Tallahassee until 1948 when she moved to Miami, Florida, where she lived until she retired from First Union Bank in 1994. She was a devoted member of West Flagler Park Baptist Church while she lived in Miami. Her church was her life. Elnita served as church treasurer, nursery coordinator, choir member and cooked Wednesday night suppers. After she retired, she moved back to the Frink Community in Calhoun County, where she reconnected with her high school sweetheart Tommy Duke. She and Tommy married in 1994 and moved to Pansey, Alabama. She was an active and devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist, Church in Gordon, Alabama. Elnita sang in the choir, served on the finance and music committees of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, but her greatest joy was leading the church prayer chain ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Duke; her parents Mack and Hattie Segers; her brothers Bobby Segers and Gary Segers; and her grandson Michael Guilford. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm CT at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. A graveside service and interment will immediately follow at the McClellan Cemetery in Frink, Florida. All arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown, 850-674-5449.
