My sincere condolences to the family. Chris and I were in the class of 1975 at Liberty County High School. I had the opportunity to see him 2016 when he attended a reunion for group of friends who were celebrating turning 60 years old. The last person I expected to see was Chris but he was there with all smiles stating he wanted to see his high school friends . Although years had separated us Chris was the same person I remembered in high school . He was so personable and witty . It was great to reconnect with him. I do remember he was especially proud to be a father and living on the coast. Today I send prayers to his family . To his sister Charlotte, I am sending love and a virtual hug your way . Chris, may your soul Rest In Peace .

My name is Wade Shuler Gause. There are a bunch of Shulers in the Bristol area. I first got to know Chris at White Springs before our family moved from Marianna to Bristol when I was in the 9th grade.
After we moved to Bristol, Chris and I played baseball together. I wasn't a basketball player nor did I do track. Chris ran and threw the discus. But I admired his shooting skills on the basketball court as we would run the snack shack at all of their games. I enjoyed Chris, John Wesley Edwards, Wolf, Jimmy Bilbo, Darreyl Duggar who were my classmates too. They were very successful in basketball.
Chris was our first baseman and relief pitcher. He usually hit in the batting order before me, usually clean up. We make it to the final four in the state baseball playoffs both our junior and senior years. I remember a playoff game in Ponce de Leon our senior year. As I was on deck at the start of the inning, Chris was already over next to the plate taking a few swings as the pitcher was warming up. I told the guys over in the dugout, Chris likes what he is seeing. That guy is pitching in Chris' sweet spot. Chris is going yard on this guy and I am going yard right after him, we are going back to back. Sure enough, a couple of pitches later Chris sent it out of the park. And a couple of pitches later I took it out of the park too.
Another great memory was a few years ago, I had my family down home visiting from Utah. I had gotten up with Chris and he took us crabbing from the shore and out to check some of his pots. So he took our family, all seven of us with his nets and we were able to catch a dozen crab. We took them back to Bristol that evening and fixed them with Judge Ken Hosford, another classmate and good friend of ours.
Chris had a great love for people and was able to share and try to help those that struggled. I know he was proud of his kids and loved you all as he told me that several times.
I look forward to visiting with Chris again when we all pass from this life into the next phase of God's eternal plan of happiness.
As the angel declared of our Lord and Savior, "He is not here, he is risen." So it is for Chris and all our loved ones who have proceeded us.
May God's blessings of comfort be upon all of you.
